Letter from Mr J. Daries (IMG)

Dear colleagues,  I pray that you are all well, enjoyed the short recess and  that you are "re-charged" to face the challenges that this term presents. Our thoughts and prayers are with ALL our students this term, especially our grade 12 students and their teachers who are preparing for one of the most important examinations of their lives.

Colleagues, we have an extremely "busy" term in that the IQMS programme must be completed, need to ensure the smooth running of the end of year examinations, writing of the Systemic Tests, planning for 2014 and the completion of promotion schedules and reports. Did I fail to mention the School Enrichment Program that many of you have!

May I also take the opportunity of thanking you and your faculty for all your efforts in making the lives of our children an enriching experience as we celebrate International Teachers Day on 5 October 2013.

I wish to remind you to submit your quarterly academic results to me on/before Friday 4 October 2013 - primary schools (grades 1,3,6) and high schools (grades 9,11 and 12). Please note that you are supposed to upload your quarterly results on CEMIS (there is a function for it), however, you may complete the attached spreadsheets. High schools, please ignore the fact that the grade 12 spreadsheet indicates "March" and "June".

Also, you are reminded to send us weekly (every Friday) statistics of available  "spaces" at your school. Please mail this to our secretary, Magda Botha.

Please note that I shall be visiting the following schools next week:

Monday 7 October: Sea Point HS            - 10:00 - 11:00
                                Walmer HS              - 11:30 - 12:30

                                Salt River High        - 11:00 - 12:00

Wednesday 9 October: Sea Point Primary (IQMS)
Thursday 10 October:  Zonnebloem Girls (IQMS)

The attached SPMDS Progress Certificate must be completed and returned to Lesley Hutchings on/before Friday 11 October 2013.

Please note that you must upload your SGB information on CEMIS on/before Friday 11 October 2013.

Please upload the following TEXTBOOK orders on CEMIS between 28 October and 1 November 2013:

NS & Technology (grades 4 - 6)
HL / FAL / Life Skills / Math (grades 1 - 3)

Please read the instructions carefully as per circular!!!

By now you are aware that SACE will roll-out the CPTD for both principals and deputy principals in 2014. However, in order to prepare for this important process, both SACE and the district requires each school to complete the following attachments and return same to Lesley Hutchings on 13 November 2013 when you submit your school's QA 7.

- School Profile
- Developmental Needs of the Principal
- Developmental Needs of the Deputy Principal

The CTM, Ms. Minnaar, will mail the above to you so that you can plan your end of year programme adequately.

This will take place on Thursday 17 October 2013 (venue to be confirmed)

Do ensure that you complete your Annual Budget meeting well before 30 November 2013. Please give your parents timeous notice thereof and send our SCO, Abongile Juqu, an approved copy of your school budget before the end of the academic term.

Colleagues, once again, best wishes for the term!

Regards and take care.
